Training Dates
Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshops available in English
This workshop will provide an overview of OC Safe from the Start, a program to reduce children's exposure to violence. It will describe the Safe from the Start public health campaign and the Safe from the Start public health campaign based on current research from Dr. Bruce Perry of the Child Trauma Academy.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss two goals of the Safe from the Start public health campaign. 2. Identify two guidelines for working with young children and adolescents exposed to violence. 3. Name the four parts of the young child's developing brain. 4. State one function of each of the four parts of a young child's developing brain. 5. Discuss two ways normal development in a young child's brain may be altered following early exposure to violence. 6. State two of the stages of the arousal continuum.
All attendees will receive an OC Safe from the Start toolkit and binder that include resources and learning materials that can be integrated into their current practice. There is a $15 fee for the English TOT. This fee covers the cost of materials and lunch.
